For all of those who have color monitors and would like to see Disinfectant's icon family be represented in all its glory, help is finally here. By the way of an Icon Vault that can easily be installed, by copying it to your System Folder, can those "plain Jane" black and white Disinfectant icons be a way of the past. As long as Disinfectant keeps its creator code all future upgrades to Disinfectant will be fixed as well.
WHY USE ICON VAULTS?
Disinfectant doesn't like its files to be changed in any way, because if it did, that would open up an excellent opportunity for any virus program to dismantle and stop Disinfectant's effectiveness. The result of all of this, is that you can't use ResEdit or any other like program to convert the black and white icons to color. Its a mystery to me why Disinfectant hasn't incorporated color icons before now, but that's neither here or there. What an Icon Vault basically does, is modify your invisible desktop file that holds an application's icon information and changes it so that what is in the Icon Vault, is what will be displayed on your desktop. This is also an excellent way to provide an application's Icon Family when that application doesn't exist on your hard drive.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR ROCKET SCIENTISTS NOT!
1. Copy the "Icon Vault Folder" to your System Folder.
2. Restart your computer, holding down the option and command keys after all your INITs load. This will rebuild your desktop and Disinfectant's icons should now be displayed in color.
3. Write me a single spaced 10 page report on why you love "Icon Vaults."
